Registered Dietitians are the experts in nutrition. The Registered Dietitian (RD) credential indicates that a practitioner has completed a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, 1,200 hours of supervised nutrition practice, has passed a standardized national examination, and completes 75+ hours of continuing education every five years.
Registered Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals authorized to prescribe Medical Nutrition Therapy in the United States. Because of their thorough training and accreditation, RDs are qualified to work in every imaginable food environment: healthcare institutions, corporate health programs, foodservice operations, nutrition product promotion, university, and research settings.
Utilizing the nutrition, healthcare, and foodservice expertise of an RD is a proven strategy for companies, organizations and individuals who are interested in maximizing health outcomes, minimizing cost overruns, and assuring regulatory compliance.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the professional association for Registered Dietitians, as well as an excellent and trustworthy resource for consumers looking for evidence-based nutrition information. To learn more about the benefits of working with a Registered Dietitian, visit the Academy’s website at www.eatright.org. To find an RD in your area, click here.
